Haircut lesson from Mulan

Taking a lesson from Mulan, minus the really sharp pointy double edge sword, close your eyes and swiftly cut.

I absolutely love long hair. I personally think it makes my face look slimmer, and I feel more girly with long hair. Usually it takes me a while to grow out my hair. I get a haircut every two years. But the downside for long hair with me is the weight of it all. I get serious migraines due to the length. That's kind of my way of knowing when I need to go to a salon. Haircuts for girls are so expensive, but I always justified the $30+ cost with the amount of times I actually need to go to a salon. Thirty dollars sounds like it's on the cheaper end, that's because I always went to a shop in Chinatown, where I know they're the cheapest. Although I'm rarely happy with what they cut it into. I just love the whole hair washing process when I'm at a salon. I love the massaging that they do when they work in the shampoo and condition, and it just feels so relaxing.

I would have gone to a salon right about now for my biennial hair cut, but seeing as how broke I am currently and how I constantly put off the haircut, I resorted to the next best thing. YouTube it and test it out. I just had to do something to get rid of these migraines.

For my specific haircut I followed the ponytail hair tie technic. This is where you tie your hair together with a hairband above the length you wish to have it at. Then tie another hairband below the area you're about to cut. This ensures the hair doesn't move when cutting and makes it way more efficient for cleaning after.

This method of cutting the hair can be done alone, but when my boyfriend heard I needed a haircut, he jumped at the chance to try. So this credit goes to him! I've seen the countless 'boyfriend does my makeup' vlogs, but this was a first for me. Whatever the outcome was I'd have to live with it, for two years! Lucky for me, my hair is relatively straight, but it tends to curl in at the ends. So his attempt turned into a fancy concave bob cut. I'm totally loving my new look, flaws and all.

I can't wait to experiment new short hairdo looks. Best of all, no more migraines!
