Military Diet

I've been looking for a meal regimen that I could use that didn't involve liquefying all my meals or the use of powder. I was thumbing through Pinterest and Indulgy, both websites where I could find random inspirations when I'm bored. I came across this and I got curious.

"The Military Diet is a combination of low calories, chemically compatible foods designed to work together and jump start your weight loss." ~ Military Diet

The diet didn't require a rigorous workout or fat free items. On the contrary the diet allows for peanut butter AND vanilla ice cream. Now tell me what diet allows you to have regular vanilla ice cream and not the fat free nonsense. Yeah, I thought so, it's super rare. The diet only lasts 3 days out of the week and after a week you should notice changes in your weight. On the website they said you'd lose 10 pounds after a week on this military diet! What I love is that the diet is super strict, it's down to the tee on what you can have and what you can substitute if you are allergic. For instant, fruit isn't just fruit, there's a reason why they tell you only half a grapefruit and you can't substitute an orange for that grapefruit. Why you might ask, I was curious too. Apparently this fruit portion of the meal is calculated towards the consumer's pH level in the body. An orange is categorized as acidic, whereas, a grapefruit is more of an alkaline base. They further explain that in an acidic environment, fat flourishes. So that means that glass of OJ in the morning isn't actually doing much good for you if you're trying to lose weight. So apparently alkaline producing foods help improve the pH balance of our body. If you wanted to skip the grapefruit the only option is to mix a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and drink it if you want the same Military Diet benefits. Grapefruit and baking soda create more alkaline conditions, which is better for fat burning. Lucky for me, I love grapefruit, and let's just leave the baking soda for when I'm baking.

Another plus side of this diet is the amount of money I'll be saving for each week's food supply. The food options for this diet isn't boring at all, especially if you switch it out with some of the substitutions. On the website there's even a section that offers suggestions on how to plan your four days off the Military Diet! The four day plan keeps you at 1500 calories each day.

Here's what the 3 day diet looks like:

Here's Day 1 of my Military Diet!

I've started the Military Diet with my boyfriend. I swear he joined me on his own volition. Now all I have to do is buy a scale. I'm trying this diet out not because I need to seriously lose weight, but I'd like to see a slight improvement. Basically, this will be my jump start to training my body to want smaller portions. It's an added bonus if I can lose a little weight from all this. From there I'll start toning my body, but before all that, I'm curious if this diet really holds any truth.
